Governor's Achievement Award

Purpose: This award is to recognize the NEW LION member (including transfers) during their first year of membership. It is designed to familiarize and involve the new Lion in a range of activities that, when completed, will result in a better understanding of the mission and purpose of Lionism.

Period: One year from the new Lions induction.

Responsibilities: The sponsoring Lion is responsible for assisting the new member in the pursuit of this award. The club membership chair is to complete the required form for certification by the club’s board of directors, who after their approval, shall send the form to the district chair.

Requirements: The new member must complete nine (9) of the ten (10) requirements listed below.
1. Read and review the Lions manual found in the member kit. Serve as a greeter at four meetings.

2. Attend a board of directors meeting.

3. Attend a zone meeting.

4. Participate actively in two Club projects.

5. Attend two other club meetings OR visit the Conklin Center.

6. Attend two club social functions.

7. Attend an MD Conference or attend a new member orientation.

8. Attend 75% or better of regular club meetings.

9. Attend one District Cabinet meeting OR eye bank meeting.

10. Recruit one (1) new member.

 

Requirements: The transferred Lion must complete nine (9) of the ten (10) requirements listed below.
1. Visit the Conklin Center or attend a lecture on the center from a representative of the Conklin Center.

2. Attend two board of directors meeting of your club.

3. Attend a zone meeting.

4. Participate actively in two Club projects.

5. Attend two other club meetings OR the MD Convention.

6. Attend two club social functions.

7. Visit Southeastern Guide Dog or attend a Council meeting.

8. Attend 75% or better of regular club meetings.

9. Attend one District Cabinet meeting or eye bank meetings.

10. Visit an Eye Bank.
