7 Qualities of Inspiring Leaders

“How is it possible that unhappy, unmotivated and disengaged members could offer exceptional, caring humanitarian service, enthusiastically invite others to join or ranks, or deliver exciting, innovative training programs that will move our association forward? “ Well you know the answer – they CAN’T!

In his book, “Fire Them Up!”, author Carmine Gallo identifies 7 key qualities that we need to develop.

  • Ignite your enthusiasm! Even if you can’t embrace the process, enjoy the impact that service makes in your community.
  • Navigate a course of action! Share that vision and set of common goals. LCI has some great tools like “Blueprint for a Stronger Club”. This gives direction and a sense of purpose.
  • Sell the benefit! Focusing on the results will cause us to be energized & see the clear benefits of service.
  • Tell a story! Paint a picture, a personal anecdote that will cause a genuine connection.
  • Invite participation! Celebrate the input of everyone. Encourage contribution at all levels.
  • Reinforce optimism! It will be contagious.
  • Show you care! Theodore Roosevelt said “No one cares how much you know, until they know how much you care.”

In the next few months, we will be offering training for Leaders from the grass roots Lion to the District Governors. Watch your email for the latest on our District Leadership Development and let us know your training needs for your Club.
