Happy New Year to all! It is my sincerest hope that each and every one of you were able to find happiness during the Holiday Season; whether it was volunteering at a soup kitchen, taking the time to speak with a lonely person brightening their day, or giving a heartfelt gift to a friend, family member, or child in need. There are many ways to reach out and give to bring happiness to not only yourself but to others also. This is the reason we are all Lions and let’s keep up the great work in this New Year.

As this New Year kicks off, it is a good time to reach out to a local college and work on establishing a Campus Club; reach out to your Club’s local school and begin working on a Leo Club. Let’s share our Lionistic Spirit with our youth so that long after we are gone, Lionism continues in America.

Remember this is the month to drop members so that you do not have to pay dues for those Lions we have lost over the last few months. I encourage you to reach out and try to save them before dropping them. You never know what you may find with a simple call to them. On a very positive note, and we can keep it this way, our District is up by nine members as of the writing of this article. Great Work Lions! Just ASK ONE.

All are invited to attend the Winter Conference January 8 – 10, 2016. It is being held at the Radisson Hotel (2900 Parkway Blvd, Kissimmee, FL 34747). Haven’t booked your hotel yet – No Problem. The Radisson is still accepting reservations for the event; make sure you ask for the Lions group rate code “0116 LIONCL”. The Partner in Service Theme is “Books for the Bahama’s” – if you are attending, please bring a book! District 35-I will take care of getting the books to the Bahamas.

Mark your calendars! We have our next District Meeting in Lynn Haven, FL on the 23rd of January 2016. Make sure that you reach out to let them know you are coming. Information is in separate article of this newsletter. The District Mini-Convention will be held in Gainesville, FL the 8th of April 2016. We will be having an International Director as our guest. This event is your opportunity to rub elbows with someone who helps to shape policy and the future of our organization. Come and have you voice heard and find out what LCI has in the works for our next one hundred years of service. The annual MD Convention is being held April 28th through May 1st 2016 in Jacksonville, FL. Yes, fellow Lions – the MD convention is being held in the territory of 35-L again. Let’s pull together and ensure it is well attended by our District, show that Lions Pride and have some fun. It will be held at the Lexington Hotel and Conference Center Jacksonville Riverwalk, 1515 Prudential Dr. Jacksonville, FL 32207. Details can be found in the MD Magazine you recently received and on the MD Web-site. Don’t let time slip away – go ahead and make your reservations/food selections now.
