Another Lion month has gone by and fall is upon us. I had a chance to visit Leader Guide Dog in Rochester, Michigan. The staff at this facility is outstanding. They are in the process of completing a state of the art facility with a Veterinary Clinic that most veterinarians would love to have. It includes two full time veterinarians on staff. There are many volunteers who also assist. Their service guide dogs are free no matter what part of the country you are in. The breeds are mostly Labradors, Golden Retrievers and some German Shepherds. The organization was founded by three Lions. One of our clubs in our District, Gainesville University City donated over $5000.00 and became a top dog. The Testimonials from their clients was very touching. Leader Guide Dogs rely solely on donations to provide this great service.

I also visited Arlington Eye Clinic sponsored by Jacksonville Arlington Lions Club along with my wife District Secretary Lion Sue Masters. We enjoyed our time with PDG Lion Tom Dover as he gave us a first class tour of their new facility. We look forward to seeing it expanded.

Lion Carl Plesner stepped down as our District Treasurer. After many years of service our District is going to miss you, thank you for your service and wish you and your family good fortune.

We welcome our new Treasurer Lion Lon Stafford, who is stepping up. Thank you Lion Lon.

We need to support fellow Lions who are recovering from illnesses and surgeries and those who have lost loved ones.

Your Brother In Lions,
1st Vice District Governor Larry Masters
